Performentale: Psychologist and Welfare Officer at the 2024 Paralympic Games Mental Trainer

Performentale at the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games as:
- Mental trainer for athletes participating in the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
- Psychologist Welfare Officer (responsible for well-being) within the French delegation for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
The role of Welfare Officer is to be a resource for the mental and emotional well-being of athletes and staff, to provide a safe space for expression, and to support the autonomy and mastery of individual and collective mental resources and skills.

My responsibilities as a Psychologist and Welfare Officer within the French delegation of the CPSF (French Paralympic and Sports Committee) included:
- Providing psychological support to athletes and staff.
- Mental preparation related to performance and well-being.
- Serving as the point of contact for gender-based and sexual violence, and all forms of violence/harassment.
- Serving as the technical reference on the specific psychological needs of individuals with physical and/or mental disabilities (para-sports and adapted sports).

Performentale: Where and How?
Within the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Village, at the competition venues, and at Club France, I conducted individual interviews, group sessions, and workshops for the sports teams.
As a psychologist, welfare officer, and mental coach for Performentale, my goal was to provide athletes and staff with the necessary support to analyze and manage their thoughts and feelings throughout the event:
- stress,
- the pressure of competition and results,
- doubts,
- personal difficulties,
- mental and emotional challenges,
- media attention.
It was important for me to support them in identifying, developing, and potentially acquiring the resources they could use.
This was done with the goal of empowering each individual in their skills and abilities, so they could fully and enjoy the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. This is also what you will find in Performentale‘s support programs.
Post-competition support was also a key aspect: After the events, whether they resulted in victories or defeats, acknowledging emotions and analyzing situations is crucial so that athletes can learn from their experience, overcome pressure, and prepare for the next stages of their journey.

The goal is to continue supporting athletes in areas that may have had a psychological impact outside of competition: personal life situations, relationships with other athletes or staff members, etc. It’s about being present and available in the aftermath.
This global event has further highlighted how crucial mental preparation is for success, complementing technical, tactical, and physical training in both able-bodied Olympic sport and Paralympic and adapted sports.
At Performentale, I support able-bodied, para, and adapted sports, helping everyone thrive in their activity and build self-confidence, while respecting the specific needs of inclusion and individual and collective support.
